Great video compilation of a show I played with the Chase Jackson Megaband in the spring.  That’s me stage right with the funny jacket.

Great new music from good friend Baron Arnold

Check out Baron Arnold (Trombone) and his recordings from his senior recital at Oberlin.  Some great arrangements and compositions featured on his soundcloud.

FINALLY got the video of my piece written for Kinetic Light Drums up!  Check it out and check out http://mccormackandfigg.com for more info about these instruments.

Check out my new music sampler on Bandcamp!

Just got out of the studio with Ohio-based pop band House Cat at WOBC.  Getting our four track EP mixed and mastered, and it should be out online later this summer.

I got these six Kinetic Light Drums from Jenn and Matthew Figg. They are artists based out of Baltimore, MD. My European Classical Percussion professor at Oberlin, Paul Cox, had the opportunity last year to meet the Figgs and compose a piece for some of their larger drums entitled…

Thanks for the blog post Oberlin!

Music music music music here in Oberlin!  Played a fun show with OJE last weekend for Parent’s Weekend, celebrated the election new (old) President by performing with a brass band in Tappan Square, and am still rehearsing with the wonderful Chase Jackson Big Band for our gig with Solarity on December 1st.  In other news our house band (Chase Jackson, Alex Cummings, Ian McArdle) are working on a set of Beatles tunes for a show at German House on Nov 30th.  All this plus lessons with Billy Hart, Paul Samuels, and Paul Cox has me a little hyped on drumming to say the least…

Working with Chase Jackson on a project for Oberlin based Solarity featuring a hand picked Oberlin big band for an event in December.  Just one of many projects I am currently in the middle of (including midterms here at Oberlin - yikes!).  Stay tuned for:
House Cat (Featuring David and Jamie of Leave Me Alone, Mom)
the Chronic 2.5 (a live Hip-Hop band Featuring Miles Serber)
Temporary Power Outage (Oberlin Hardcore featuring past members of BLK OUT)
or the Oberlin Jazz Ensemble (splitting the drum chair with the fantastic Zaire Darden)

Long overdue update:
Got back from Sitka Fine Arts camp a couple weeks ago (July 16th).  I am very excited by all of the amazing talent and inspiration I got to witness there, not to mention the incredible natural beauty that abounds in SE Alaska.  Current projects include working on developing my Senior Recital for Oberlin, transcribing some pages of drum music for Billy Hart, and showing some potential future band mates around Portland.  My good friend Nick and I are driving back to Ohio together around the 20th of August, and that should be spectacular as well.
Hope August is going well for everyone!

The little bro graduated from Riverdale High School last night, and I am off to Alaska tomorrow!  Yikes, time flies!  Adding books to my kindle, records to my iPod, and packing them bags.  Anyway, here is a pic of the older bro and I congratulating him in our own way…

Summer (in the) Works!

I am very excited to be heading to Sitka Alaska in a few days to work at the Sitka Fine Arts Camp as a counselor.  For those who are uniformed about all the rad stuff they do, check out their website.  And, more importantly, check out how BEAUTIFUL it is going to be!  Otherwise, I will be at home (PDX) working at some camps and teaching and hopefully brewing lots of beer!
